Joanne Swann was a graphic designer and art director in southern California where she learned about printing processes. While living there she was able to take a variety of printmaking classes and workshops including etching, silk screen, intaglio, lithography, and relief printing. Since retiring to Michigan she has continued to pursue her interest in printmaking techniques and is currently focusing on relief printing. She works out of her home using non-toxic inks and hand-pulling her images. Her work runs the gamut from realism, to representational, to conceptual; a holdover from her graphic design career.
